Teachers

I have always admired and envied teachers. For one they get summers off! But what I envy the most is that they learn so much more from teaching then we do when we are the students. The teachers get to prepare and study and realize how important something is. As a student you can get into the routine of thinking "I'm just going to class". You are not JUST going to class you are going to LEARN! And I love learning new things! This past week Zach and I were called to be the "Strengthening Marriage and Family Relationships" teachers in our student married ward. I am so excited! I was a Relief Society teacher in one of my singles wards and I loved every minute of it...... probably because I learned so much. So when we were asked to accept this calling I was beaming. We will be team teaching with another couple from our ward. We met with them last night to discuss how we wanted to present the lessons and what we hoped people would take away from our class. I did not think that I could be even more excited about teaching this class then I already was, but after we left I was ecstatic! As I begin to study the lesson a little nervousness started setting in, hoping that I will be able to say everything perfectly and that the people in my class will learn something. Then I started to reflect on how many wonderful teachers I have had in my life, especially on the topic that we will be teaching. As I was thinking I realized that how I learned about "Strengthening Marriage and Family Relationships" was mainly from watching my parents and other couples. I have had wonderful examples in my life. So thank you mom & dad, family, and friends for showing m how important and sacred your relationships are, you are the best teachers! SLY xoxo

  1. That class is the best class the church has to offer. I've taught it a couple of times, and I constantly marvel at how great it is.

    You'll be great!
