When I was a kid and I would imagine what I would be like when I grew up it was always something outlandish! I would imagine myself doing extreme things and I would always say "I'm not like my parents". Well I have come to realize that I am more like my parents and I will continue to slowly evolve into my parents. Let me explain..... We were in church this last Sunday and Zach had something on his face, so naturally I licked my finger and started rubbing at his face. (Flash back 10 years ago and my mother was doing that to me!) Then a few days ago he had some scruff on his face (which I don't mind) and out of nowhere I told he look like a "rag-a-muffin"! What does that even mean? But I do remember my mother telling my siblings and I after a day or two of not showering and looking messy that we looked liked like "rag-a-muffins". Another thing my mother use to do was wake up REALLY early and go walking with a few of her friends. I remembered thinking that this was a little strange. Why would you get up early just to walk? Well guess what?! I have started getting up really early before work to walk with a lady from my ward. My dad , at the dinner table, would always clear his throat before he was going to say something important and at work yesterday I did the same thing. After pondering ALL of this for a moment or two I thought to myself "Marilyn, if you don't want to be like your parents you better start being really conscious of things you may say or do and break the habit!" My conclusion was: I don't care! If I am like my parents the more the better! They are fun, they love to laugh and spend quality time with quality people. So thanks mom and thanks dad for passing on some habits, however weird or strange they may be!

SLY (Sure Love Ya)

ReplyDeleteyou're lucky if you turn out like your parents.
No one has better parents (and more fun parents) than you. I love the picture at the bottom of the post.
